Diet

During the Middle Ages, long negotiations and their agreements were called Diets, mainly because their chefs were so bad and beer was not worth mentioning (without the hops) so everyone just went hungry. (Not to be confused with Hungary, which is where people went but not like the went we mention here.)

The food was so bad at some of these shindigs that lasted so long, the polititions started using comments on the hospitality in the title of the treaties. This was a cheap way to get the word out just how much the politicians suffered for their people. Thus, the theory of the origin of the famous Diet of Worms signed in 1644.

We do know, from contemporary woodcarvings, that the dancing girls were particularly ugly, the negotiators were very mad.

It is further postulated that this is one reason why there are no treaties named after Las Vegas.
