What's this about?

BH is a browser-based game of man-to-monster combat in the distant future. Each player controls a group of characters, either Humans or Bugs, attempting to survive and eliminate the other side. It is not open-ended, like many other games. Instead we play scenarios, with different maps and winning conditions.

There are no game turns. You can log on anytime and spend your character's Action Points, a fraction of which are regenerated every 30 minutes. Some mechanisms allow your character to do things while you're offline, like moving in a specified direction or attack other characters (Opportunity Fire).

Don't get too attached to a character, the survival rate in the game tends to be pretty low.

What are Action Points?

Just click on the link.

How do I start?

Go to the forum http://dosomefink.com/phpbb2/index.php and join a team. There are (hidden) subfora for each team. That's where your team password is. Now go to http://sevenlions.org/bh/index.html Create a new user account. You need only one account for all your characters. Next, create new characters. See: Character Generation.

What's all the stuff on the map?

See the Map Legend.

How do I win?

That depends on the scenario. Sometimes your side will have a more or less clear mission. But you should probably concentrate on surviving first.

BHSF, you'll have to re-unlearn all the things BHx1 got wrong!!!!

How do I survive?

By not being killed. Easier said than done.

Hide somwhere. You can hide in Obstructed or Dense terrain (the grey or dark grey squares).

Set your character on Opfire when logging out. You need to equip a weapon (loaded and unjammed) and click the OpFire and Log out button. Your character will now automatically attack enemy characters while you are logged out.

Work as a team. See the Tactics page.

Note for new players: ALL OF YOUR CHARACTERS WILL BE SLAUGHTERED LIKE CATTLE. Don't expect anyone you roll up in the first week to remain alive for more than twenty four hours. Remember Wierzbowski in Aliens? Of course you don't. You're Wierzbowski. Or that guy who takes off his helmet on Omaha Beach in Saving Private Ryan. Expect to have the lifespan of an extra in a John Woo film. Most likely within two seconds of your first contact, you'll be reduced to bloody chunks. Learn to love it. Don't get too attached - after all, you don't have to write letters to their mothers/queen. Learn the ropes, and someday you'll be able to do the same to the next batch of lambs led to the slaughter.

How can I improve my character?

See: Bughunter experience point system.

Is there a Help index or somefink?

No, but there is the navigation pane at the top, and there are very useful wiki categories, included at the bottom of every page dealing with BH.
